Introduction

Even with the best transport policies and solutions thought of, all these require a compatible land space in order for them to be effectively implemented. However, Singapore itself is faced with its biggest geographical enemy, Limited Land Area.

Statistics

Singapore has 15% of its land allocated for housing and 73% of its land used for other purposes not specified. What is left is 12% allocated for the building and constructions of roads, of which are essential and fundamental to ensure smooth transport systems in Singapore.

With only 12% of land area currently allocated for roads, Singapore face the difficulty in building more roads to ease the increasing traffic congestion faced in Singapore as of now. Areas such as housing, recreational, and schools cannot be neglected just for the sake of traffic. Therefore, Singapore, with only geographical area of approximately 704km2 faces this restraining problem.
